That's right, people, just when you thought you'd seen it all, the idiots of the internet came out to play.

Apparently the release of Titanic 3D has caused some confusion amongst tweeters, who hadn't realised that the movie was not just a stroke of Hollywood brilliance, but was actually based on a real event.

"Is it bad that I didn't know the titanic was real? Always thought it was just a film," wrote one user.

"Nobody told me titanic was real…? How am I just finding this out?!" exclaimed another.

Really, we have no idea.

Other tweeters took this revelation as a warning to keep their feet on dry land for the foreseeable future:

"The titanic was real holly s**t im never gooing on a cruise."

Just, wow.
